20-10-2009 Right to Play Tournament @ Wageningen
Report by Erik
Sunday 11th of October. My first ultimate tournament ever. A short introduction of our team: Orange Tim, team coach, Martine ,fanatic as always, Pink Tim, boarded the train at Utrecht Central, The missing Player, ???, and, yours truly, Erik.
Yep, our team consisted of 4 players, which is one player too little. So we asked a few other teams and fortunately some players were willing to join our team for a match! Thanks again!
Before the lunch break we played four games and, too bad, we lost them all. We became last in our pool. Two more games were ahead and we were absolutely willing to win at least one of them. Guess what, we won both games!!! Whoohoo!!! Final ranking spot: Seventh. Well done!
Playing at a tournament is a great experience and it's true, you learn so much about playing Ultimate and the atmosphere is great.
My first tournament: Right to Play!
What's yours? ;)
| 07-10-2009 Mixed Competition Day 2
Last Sunday, a super squad of 14 NUTS traveled to Wageningen to play in the national competition. We had just promoted to the second division and wanted to prove that we belonged there.
Our first game was against Ultielmate. A team made up of some very experienced national players and heaps of teenager newbees. It was an exciting point-trading game, which unfortunately finished in a 9-7 win for Ultielmate.
In the second game we were up against our friends from Drieburg, Crunch 1 :) They came out strong and before we knew it, we were behind multiple points, 7-4 to Crunch. But then we got our groove together and fought back. We scored 5 times in a row and finished the game 9-7 in our favor.
The last game was against WAF 1, the home team. But we had some supporters of our own: Just's family cheered us on. So we knew we had to look slick on the field. It was another point-trading game. But with some patience we were able to keep our calm and work the disc up the field nice and slow (almost) every point, resulting in a 11-8 win for NUTS!
Well done, team! Thanks for a jolly day in early October sunshine. I enjoyed it a greet deal! Cheers, Lisa
PS. Never trust Wayne or Seton. Damn, maffiosi..
| 07-10-2009 Winter Outdoor
As of this week, our weekly practice takes place on Tuesday at Sportpark Drieburg. It starts at 19.00h every week. If it rains, we play at the artificial fields right behind the regular grassy fields. Look for flying discs :)
