Indoor competition Day 2
Unfortunately, the start of the indoor competition wasn?t quite well. So, let?s forget what went wrong last time and head on!
Last Sunday was the second competition day and it was organized at the Students Sport Facilities in Eindhoven. We were scheduled in the 5th division with four other teams and so we had to play (yep, you guessed it right!) four games that day.
We arrived nice on time, so we had the opportunity to watch 2 games of our fellow competitors and noticed some very effective zone defense! Hmm, could we do that as well?
The first team we had to play against was Disc Devils Twente and we won our first game of the day. How many would follow?
Our second game was against BeFrisbee2?s. It took us more effort to score. Although the score was pretty even, we managed to win the match.
The next game was against Crunch?s Oddjob. It was our third but their fourth game and so far they won them all. We were the only team left to stop them from a flawless victory. The pressure was on! I think this was the best game of ultimate we played this day. We even tried a zone defense and it worked extremely well! Eventually we lost the match, but we made it really hard for them to win.
The last game of the day was against Vertigo. The first half we were asleep or something like that. Our timing was completely off. During the second half of the game we improved our play and it became pretty tense. Unfortunately, we gave them too many points already, which we couldn?t catch up with anymore.
In the end, two wins, two losses and some great ultimate! I think we did a good job and maybe we will win next competition day!

Scream of the Seagul
After a whole bunch of last minute plot twists in the composition of our team, we had a small but fine squad this weekend at the Schreeuw van de Meeuw tourney.
Martine, Carly, Arne, Fred, Tom, Lisa and partly Andrew G defended the NUTS honor. Schreeuwen we sure did. Especially worth mentioning is Tom the Beast, who played for two teams.. and still won the final.
On Saturday we got our groove on in a warming up game against BFrisbee2's II (oh yeah, indoor.. there are walls and overheads and such). The most exciting games we played that day were against Fischbees and G?ttinger 7. Both lost by only 1 or 2 points while trading points all game. We therefore finished the day in the bottom half, which was probably best considering the size and fitness of our team :)
On Sunday Andrew joined us. We played three games, among which was the very exciting fight against Hechte for final ranking (#13). Another point trading game which we managed to win! Good way to finish the tourney.

Mixed Competition Day 3
Blessed once more with beautiful weather, a mixed squad of 13 NUTS and NUTS-kindred played three more games in the second division of the Dutch competition. We showed once more that we are a decent team that combines fun with good ultimate.
Two weeks ago we were unlucky in our match against Ultielmate. This time the youngsters had to miss some of their experienced players, which made their play completely different. Although two of those guys were still making it hard for us every now and then, we were able to break through their defense and win this game.
The second game was against WAF from Wageningen. We had less difficulties playing against them compared to the game two weeks ago. We never really came into trouble, which was basically the result of some nice defense we performed.
While we played against WAF, Ultielmate was being slaughtered by BFrisBee2's. So we were a little intimidated at the beginning of our game against this team with tall, experienced players. Maybe we transformed this feeling into extra focus, because we came out really well in the beginning of our third game. We showed some of our best ultimate yet and we were quickly ahead with 6-3. But somehow the feeling of this game changed gradually; it became more unfriendly with a bunch of controversial calls. The BFrisBee2's showed their experience and pushed themselves towards a victory.
I think we can look back on three really awesome days of ultimate with a lot of fun. We showed that we belong in the 2nd division by playing some pretty decent ultimate. We can be proud of ourselves, because we fought hard to get this far. I want to thank everyone for making it so much fun, but especially Just for all his organizing efforts and being our team captain.
