| 03-06-2008 Pub Quiz @ Liber
Last Saturday the NUTS gathered at Liber's crib for the 3rd edition of the Pub Quiz. This time Jesse and Bogdan were the pub quiz masters. The NUTS battled in teams of 5 against each other and tried to answer the mad questions Jesse and B had come with.
What nut is the state nut of Texas?
Dakar is the capital of what country? ....
In my team Booyakasha, this is how that went:
> Dakar? I think it's the capital of Bangladesh. I'm pretty sure.
> Bangladesh?! No man, it is somewhere in West Africa. You know, from the Paris-Dakar Rally..
> West Africa? Hmm.. isn't it possible the rally skips through Africa real quick and then bends left to Bangladesh somehow..?
> No no no WEST AFRICA
> Guys, keep your voices down, the other teams can hear you!
We finally put down Mali. It was Senegal. And the capital of Bangladesh is Dhaka.
During half time, representatives from each team competed in a NUTS eating contest. It was intense to say the least. After a lot more questions team Wipe Your Gerball But Not With The New Curtain got the most points and won! The prize was a wicked bottle of champagne and a 5 billion pieces puzzle. It was a swell night. Stay tuned for the next pub quiz in October!
| 19-05-2008 Family & Friends Day
The first ever NUTS Family & Friends day was a great success! A large group of parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and friends attended this day, despite the bad weather.
We started in cafe East of Eden with a drink and a short speech by chairman Job. At this time rain was pouring from the skies, but even though it was raining really hard, most people were eager to go to the park to throw some discs (like real nutters!).
A group of over 40 people went to the Oosterpark and after a short introduction by Tim on how to throw a proper backhand and forehand the group spread out all over the big field to practice these throws. It was great to see everybody throwing and catching with great enthusiasm! After some practice we played 2 games of real Ultimate! Jelte and Wayne provided us with food, drinks and plastic garbage bags to keep our stuff dry.
Of course, we could not end the day without some proper after game games: Mingle mingle and Samurai were played with great joy. Afterwards most people went back to East of Eden to get warm, get a drink and talk about the game of ultimate.
