Right to Play Indoor 2010
Last Sunday we had an indoor Right to Play tournament in the far, far away Leek ( Groningen ). In the early morning we only had a team of four players: Erik, Jelte, Tom Waijers (who was also training the kids) and me. Unfortunately, Reinier couldn?t make it because he was ill. Luckily, the FE-UP (force electro-ultimus prime) team could miss one (the only) UP player, who happened to be my former team mate, Harm :). Also a German coach, Claus, was willing to play with us so we even had a substitute!
We started playing quite bad, but after each match we improved and we won the last match (out of 5). Also we won the battle for the 5th place (against the same team of the last match). The FE-UP team, which after Harm switched to our team consisted of only FE people, ended up winning the competition. We, however, won the most important prize: being the most spirited team.

Indoor Competition Day 4

After a great pubquiz, some nutters were still capable of getting their selves out of bed in the morning to play some indoor ultimate! Which was in Nijmegen this time.
Our first game was against Panic 2. We started off with the Tetris zone which worked really effectively, so we immediately took the lead and ended up winning the game.
Our second match was against the hosts, BFrisbee2?s. Unfortunately for us they were more resilient against the zone, so we had to switch our tactics. Even though we played pretty decent, BFrisbee2?s were better and we lost.
In our third match against Vertigo we played a pretty decent game. The score kept being really close and we made some good moves under pressure. Unfortunately Vertigo scored their winning point right before the end, and we lost by one point.
As for the final game, the motto ?save the best for last? was not something we could say about this one, it was quite the opposite. Our opponents, Flying High, had a lot more experience and had a killing offense, so we lost.
At the end of the day we could look back on a day of mixed accomplishments. Some games were great, others, well, less great. But I still think we did a good job as a team and we played a pretty decent game of post-party ultimate!

Pub Quiz rocked again...

This weekend the NUTS held another great Pub Quiz. Our Jack and Seton collected the most random facts to test our trivia knowledge. Snuggled in a caf? in the Red Light District six teams competed for ten rounds, learning about some French town in which you?re not allowed to die unless you own a plot, that the first heart surgery was performed in 1967, what Elgin looks like if he?d been born as Lionel Richie, that songs sound bad if you play four of them at once, and that Jack thinks that Willemijn has a big butt.
One of the rounds allowed teams to go wild, having teams be creative with the raunchiest ending to ?roses are red?. I won?t share them with you?re here, mummy would definitely not appreciate that. (like "roses are red an violets are blue, even if you were dead, i would still f*** you". What were they thinking? The teams were just that good with thinking dirty.
After speedy corrections by our hosts, wearing graduation hats, the winners were announced. The Baconaise team won the competition by one point, Stupid Cupid was the runner up.
The night was already great until it got even better when the Valentine themed Lay-out was presented. This Lay-Out will definitely not go by unnoticed with our lovely ladies from the board sharing some skin. Rumour has it that ladies, a.k.a. Lisa and Carine, will be hosting the next Pub Quiz! (though fully clothed). Can?t wait for another NUTS social!
